SOL 6 at Dumyat, near Stirling

Sunday 30th September

Lost Property

Yellow sweatshirt with Livingston and District AAC on it. Contact Gary Longhurst, contact details below

Planners comments.

Thanks to everyone who came and ran at Dumyat. The courses were physically challenging, but I hope that everyone enjoyed the more technically difficult parts of the area. The remote start and finish helped to reduce the amount of climb on the courses, but the shorter TD5 courses were steeper and less technically difficult than I would have liked. Talking to competitors afterwards, the route choice legs did produce a range of options and I look forward to seeing the routes on Routegadget. More people ran over Dumyat summit than I expected. The TD1-3 courses produced good times and competitors seem to have enjoyed the woods and the steep descents. The success of the event owes a lot to Gary and his team of efficient helpers, and to Peter for welcome guidance on the courses. Of course, the weather ensured that everyone went home smiling, if a little sore, and the wonders of OCAD and Stirling Surveys fast turn-around allowed me to update the map until a few days before the event.

We plan to run a mid-week night event with SI punching using some of the same control sites in the next few weeks. Keep checking the FVO website for confirmation of the date.
