Further Information
The next FVO Come and Train (CAT) event is at Colzium, Kilsyth on Sunday 1st March. Car Parking at Map Ref 731 785, signposted from the A803, Banknock to Kilsyth road.
Starts are from 11.00 to 12.30 with registration open from around 10.40.
There will be Yellow, Orange, Green and Blue courses.
The will be the option of running the Orange or Green courses as a map memory exercise. At each control there will be a section of map displaying the next leg. This is exercise is not just about training your memory - it is about firstly planning ahead how you will navigate to the next control, identifying the few key features you need to use to navigate each leg, and simplifying the navigation so you can memorise it. All these techniques directly transferable to normal orienteering navigation. You can take a map as a back up - or go for the real challenge of taking no map!
