Open One Person RelaySun 11 Oct
Essential Info
A fun opportunity for all to run head to head against your peers on the same courses that the JHI used earlier in the morning.
Support the best juniors in the country in the morning and then see how much quicker they are than you :-).
Local event
Local events are competitive but low key and in the 'localised' area, often on a Wednesday evening or a weekend morning. Try O events are local events tailored to anyone new to the sport, with coaches on hand for advice and tips. Open to all ages, abilities and fitness levels, learn to use a map and compass to navigate round short courses.
Training events are non-competitive and used for training and coaching. These are aimed at members of the club, but non-members and newcomers are also welcome. Social events are non-orienteering activities, with the annual highlight being our Awards Evening and ceilidh!
Regional events attract participants from around the local region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, and Major events are large competitions such as a British Championships or the JK.
Overview
In a "one person relay", every starts at the same time and first over the finish line wins. Courses will be gaffled so technically everyone will not run the same course but appropriate gaffling ensures the competition is still fair. Three courses on offer:
| Course | Length | Climb | Technical Difficulty | Notes |
| Long | 4.5km | a bit | 5 | Same as JHI M18 relay course |
| Medium | 3.4km | a bit | 5 | Same as JHI W16 relay course |
| Short | 2.5km | a bit | 4 | Same as JHI W14 relay course |
1245 Start time tbc to give time for JHI relay to complete
Directions & Parking
Public parking in Aberfoyle with toilets there. Then a c2.2km walk to assembly. No toilets at assembly.
Map & Terrain
Loch Ard is brilliantly tough and technical. We will be using the more runnable parts of Loch Ard and avoiding the very dark green areas.
Map is 1:7,500, 5m contours. Map by legendary mapper Martin "Bilbo" Bagness using LIDAR. Copyright Masterplan adventure.
Course Information
Remember this is Loch Ard so the courses may look short but are not. The 4.5km course is planned to have a winning time of 35 mins for an M18.
