Forth Valley Orienteers

Beecraigs West - Club ChampsSat 15 Nov

Local event

Local events are competitive but low key and in the 'localised' area, often on a Wednesday evening or a weekend morning. Try O events are local events tailored to anyone new to the sport, with coaches on hand for advice and tips. Open to all ages, abilities and fitness levels, learn to use a map and compass to navigate round short courses.

Training events are non-competitive and used for training and coaching. These are aimed at members of the club, but non-members and newcomers are also welcome. Social events are non-orienteering activities, with the annual highlight being our Awards Evening and ceilidh!

Regional events attract participants from around the local region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, and Major events are large competitions such as a British Championships or the JK.

Entry Details

Enter here (note FVO members get free entry but must preregister). Entries close at 10am on 13th November.

Registration & Start times

Registration will be at the Assembly area and open from 10.30am. If you have requested to hire an SI Card, please collect from registration before going to the start.

Start times are from 11am-1pm and have now been allocated - please check your start time on the list below. It will be a punching start, but please try to stick to your allocated start time as it makes everyone's life easier!

Start Times By Course

Note that if you see 'Hire' under SI Card against your entry then either I know you have a dibber but I don't know the number, you have entered two courses, or I have run out of FVO dibbers to allocate. In all cases, don't worry - you will be allocated an SI Card number on the day.

Facilities

Bag and key drop at assembly, toilets adjacent.

Safety Notes

The area is bounded by roads to the east and west but courses do not cross any roads and you must not run along a road at any point. Please make sure your juniors are aware of this.

Several tracks are popular routes for mountain bikers - these are marked with a pink outline as shown below - you can cross them (with care!) at any point, but you must not run along them

One of the paths that is a valid route choice on most courses has a section of boardwalk - if the boards are wet then they are incredibly slippery, even in dobs! You would be well advised to run alongside the boardwalks, rather than trying to run along them.

Several of the fences and must only be crossed at specific points - these fences are shown with purple overprint on your map with the crossing point symbol indicating where to cross. The crossing points are not marked on the ground but they should be easy to find - where there is a barbed wire fence at a crossing point, pipe insulation has been used to protect you from the barbs.

First aid located at assembly (next to the finish), emergency contact number printed on your map.

Dog restrictions

Dogs are allowed in the parking and assembly areas, and on courses provided they are kept on a short lead.
