Barr Wood Come & Train and Middle Distance Race
In parallel with the Come and Train event at Barr Wood on March 29th there is a middle distance race, to help prepare for the JK (M/W18-21E runners) and British Middle Champs. Pre-entry is required please, although you can run the same course as EOD as part of the Come and Train event.
We are using pre-entry to make sure that we have sufficent maps and helpers on the day, so if you are definitely going to come then please pre-enter [NB there is no pre-entry for the CAT courses, but you can indicate on Oentries how many people will be coming with you for the training - this will also help our planning].
Details are: A chance to practice your Middle Distance skills before the JK and British Champs. This is a very low-key informal event! - two courses, A 5.3km (+120m; 25 controls) and B 3.3km (+85m; 17 controls); enter whichever you prefer - start times in reverse British Orienteering ranking order, 1 min interval (reduced to 30s if large entry number), 1200-1245 - split starts available if required, with early starters from 1045-1100
FVO are running a 'Come and Train' event on this day, from 1100 with coaching available; please indicate on your entry (use the 'Add some notes to your entries' link) how many people in your group might be taking part in the training so that we have sufficient maps
The middle distance courses will also take the place of the usual Green and Blue courses at the Come and Train event. EOD available, with starts any time 1100-1200
- touch-free SI may be trialled as part of WOC preparations
- nearest toilets at Stirling Services
- start lists will be published on Oentries
Note that British Summer time starts on the day of the event.
Enquiries to Trevor.Hoey@glasgow.ac.uk although on-the-day control hanging and organising is being handled by Jason Inman. Jason, Ben and Nicola (who are running the CAT event and training) will be delighted to receive offers of help at the event from FVO folk.
