"Can I Have Some More?" - 2025 AGM
The 2025 AGM of the club, which was held in Dunblane, heard of another successful year both on and off the piste, as Brad Connor reported on the first year of his presidency.
The club organised eight large events during the year, not counting the Scottish Six Days where we staged one of the rounds, and attendance at local events was once again most promising. Around 30 members now have the new SportScotland Child Protection & Welfare Qualification, and recent steps have seen a range of coaching opportunities for adult members, to supplement the extensive junior programme already in operation.
A new development plan is close to being released to cover the next three years, and this is expected to be more "qualitative" and less "quantitative" in approach, as we seek to maintain our position as Scotland's leading club.
Dave Godfree's treasurers' report highlighted that the deficit from 2024 had been reversed, almost to the exact pound, and that a number of new maps had been commissioned and delivered, paid for mostly by means of grants.
The Jim Heardman Trophy, for exceptional service to the club over an extended period, was awarded (in absentia) to Ben Stansfield, in recognition of more than 15 years sterling work as club equipment supervisor, and the Spirit of the Club awards this year went to Rhys Stanwix, for hauling kit and saving the day at the Junior European Cup, and to Roger Goddard, for continued excellence in junior coaching.
Dave Godfree stepped down as treasurer, after three years, and was replaced by Rhys Stanwix, and Marie Clare Shankland joins the board as a general trustee, to fill a vacancy there.
Many of the appointed postholders remain in place, but we're looking for a Volunteer Co-ordinator in particular, and both Jason Inman (POC Co-ordinator) and Roger Goddard (Coaching Co-ordinator) are looking to relinquish their roles.
A complete report on the year is attached at the foot of this article.
