Goddard Defends British Middle Distance Title
There were some typically excellent performances from FVO at the British Middle Distance Championships at Stanton Moor on 21 April. Roger Goddard successfully defended his M35 title whilst Hazel Dean was the victor in her W50 class.
Roger had a great run, completing his 4.5km course in 30.25, giving a solid victory over new M35 Anthony Squire.
Roger said of his race, "Kept it together in technical quarries early on and then once it got easier tried to push hard. Very pleased with very tight competition!"
Hazel's run put her nearly two minutes ahead of the nearest challenger, Jane Morgan from SOC. An excellent effort considering she is focusing on the rather longer 85km Highland Fling race!
Meanwhile, Janine Inman, after a long time out from major competition and the small matter of childbirth, showed you never lose it with a typically classy performance to come 3rd on W35.
