Eight FVO athletes hold overnight medal positions at the halfway stage of the Jan Kjellstrom International Festival, following a Middle race in tough weather conditions.

The tail of Storm Dave caught the arena overnight, and competitors arrived to find a dusting of snow on the ground and a decidedly autumnalatmosphere, but it had cleared off by noon and Brian Bullen's courses were met with universal acclaim, with some fast times recorded.

Scarlett Kelly had an epic battle with SYO's Anna Todd at the front of the W18E race, and was delighted to come back eight seconds clear (30.30) for a big win that will boost her chances of a summer international. Hannah Inman backed up yesterday's Sprint success with another top performance, and took the victory in W14A in 19.45 to join an elite group who are undefeated over the first two days.

Alison Cunningham hasd never tasted success in the JK Middle before today, but she was clear in front for a major triumph in a time of 32.41, while James Hammond dug in hard for another win in M20E, in 28.25.

Will Hensman was right on the pace in M45L, and came away with 2nd place (36.05) and he was joined in the list of contenders by Sarah Rollins (W50L - 36.02), Kirsty Bryan-Jones (W55L - 37.59) and Vicky Thornton (W65L – 34.35), who were all 2nd in their class

The success of the day was due in no small measure to a massive effort from the FVO members, with more than 60 involved in the race as event officials, backing up overall organisers Jonathan and Rona Molloy, and their efforts were duly rewarded, as no fewer than 39 FVO athletes had their best performance in the Middle stage at the festival.
