Life for Grace
The traditional FVO 6-Day Afternoon tea - this year ably arranged by Beccy Osborn and hosted by the Glen Devon Hotel in Auchterarder on Thursday 2nd - saw roughly 90 club members (plus some friends) enjoy a fine spread of refreshments and even finer socialising. In addition to the serious business of despatching scones, two important items of club note were transacted.
Firstly, at the short EGM held at 16:45, a motion to amend clause 11 of the Club Constitution to set the required quorum at AGMs/EGMs as being "the majority of those in attendance who are eligible to vote, subject to a minimum eligible attendance of the lesser of 20 members or 25% of the total paid-up membership" was passed unanimously. A revised Constitution and short minutes of the meeting will be published on the website soon.
Secondly, and of even greater note, the Committee was delighted to be able to award Honorary Life Membership to Grace Molloy in recognition of her ground-breaking achievements at JWOC 2019, where she won an unprecedented three medals, including relay Gold. Grace joins a very elite group of Life Members - amongst whom she is by far the youngest ever recipient - and, whilst she will soon be leaving us to begin her studies at Oxford University, we hope that she will continue to fly the club colours at the very highest level for many years to come.
