Stars shine at the Seaside
The young stars of Forth Valley Orienteers took their chance to shine, as they scooped eight medals at the Scottish Junior Cup, on the wooded dunes of Tentsmuir, Fife.
The Tentsmuir event had a deeper field than usual, due to English champions South Yorkshire having a training camp in the area, and the presence of the GB Talent Squad athletes at the end of their summer programme, but the local juniors showed they can mix it with the best, with a number of fine performances recorded.
Eilidh Connor notched her second win in the Junior Cup series, as she was victorious in W12A,, in a time of 30.14, and was joined on top of the podium by Hannah Inman (W10 - 34.18), who was running up a colour class for the first time, and James Hammond, who won M16A in 40.15. Tom Shearer also led his class, winning the M14 B race in 35.15.
There was a trio of B race silver medals for the squad, as Grace Polwart was 2nd in W14B (56.07), James Shearer 2nd in M16B (56.49) and Ben Polwart recorded the same position in M18S (79.13). The final medal was picked up by Alexander Hunt, who finished strongly in his M12A race, coming home in 34.01 for the bronze medal.
