JK'24 Day 3 - Long Shots Hit the Target
The Jan Kjellström International Festival of Orienteering Long day in the Midlands proved to be a successful one for FVO, with 71 athletes going to the start line, and 10 of them coming away with a medal after racing at Beaudesert.
JK'24 Day 1 - Sprint Stars Shine
FVO opened what promises to be a memorable Jan Kjellström International Festival of Orienteering for 2024, as they returned four champions to the winners enclosure on a seven medal day in the Sprint at Loughbrough University.
West is the Best
West of Scotland produced a stunning team performance to overcome defending champions North in the Junior Inter-Area Championships in western Fife and win the title for the first time in 10 years.
Super Fly Guys
FVO Flyers claimed a battling bronze medal in the final major championship race of the year to wrap up the overall Men's British Relay League title for 2023.
Big success in WEE races
The 23rd FVO Wednesday Evening series came to a conclusion this week, with a mixture of old and new names on top of the leaderboard after the 13 race series.
Juniors retain Jamie Stevenson Trophy
FVO's junior team turned in a sterling performance right across the board to successfully defend the Jamie Stevenson Trophy on “home soil” at Plean, by recording the second-highest points total in the history of the competition.
Major award for FVO stalwart
We were delighted this week to learn that our club captain Jon Cross had been recognised by Scottish Orienteering for his exemplary work over a large number of years with the award of the sport's highest honour, the President's Medal, at the federation's Annual General Meeting.

A magnificent seven medals closed out the 2023 Scottish Championship weekend for the FVO posse, with success right across the board.
Medals by the barrowload at Scottish Champs
Having irreparably burst the club wheelbarrow at the 2022 Scottish Championships, we're now reduced to hiring agricultural machinery to haul away the medals from the 2023 version at Creag Mhich., as there were 32 medals in all from 67 starters, ten of them A class golds!
Champions Crowned on Coronation Day
The orienteering championship season concluded with a double header of British Sprint and Middle distance events in Northern Ireland, and FVO athletes were once again to the fore, winning three titles amongst seven podium finishes.
Seven titles in Sensational Sprint
The FVO racing team enjoyed success right across the board at the Scottish Sprint Championships in Kirkintilloch, as they came away with seven national titles on a 18 medal day.
Henley Regatta de Blue
It may have been Boat Race day in England (same two teams in the final, AGAIN!), but the main sporting action was further up the Thames, at Henley, as the flyers of FVO sailed away with two British Relay titles to complete a memorable weekend of racing in Southern England.
And now, Racing from Newbury
There was a mix of perennial winners and new faces on top of the podium as FVO athletes matched their 2022 performance by claiming four national titles at the British Championships at Cold Ash, Newbury.
Nap Hand in Perth and Compass Sport Progression
The streets of Perth proved a happy hunting ground for Forth Valley Orienteers, as our athletes collected five wins amongst ten podium places at TAY's Scottish Urban League meet at Muirton.
Juniors win Horse Race
The FVO juniors produced a team performance not seen in a generation, as they won the 2022 Jamie Stevenson Trophy to end MAROC's 15 year dominance of the event.
Relay Special Day in Leeds
FVO Flyers had a sensational victory in the British Mixed Sprint Relay in Leeds, to clinch the overall British Relay title for 2022.
