President’s Annual Report
Following my election at the AGM one year ago, I highlighted 5 areas of focus for the club. In reviewing the year I would like to touch on how we have done against these areas of focus.
Jim Heardman Trophy
The last two years have seen the Jim Heardman trophy awarded to very strong candidates, with Gareth and Jan the recipients two years ago and then Gary last year.

The weather was unkind last week - it had been good all week, then poor on the Saturday and lovely again on Sunday. So, at short notice the training had to be cancelled, but there is a new plan:

British Schools Orienteering Championships
The British Schools Orienteering Championships took place recently at Beecraigs Country Park. A number of FVO juniors represented their schools at this event, which saw pupils from all over the UK take part.

In the fabulous setting of Stirling Castle, the Stirling Sports Awards 2011 hosted by Active Stirling, ClubSport Stirling and University of Stirling recognised the outstanding achievements, efforts and commitment of Stirling’s sports clubs, teams, athletes, coaches and volunteers.
FVO helps West win area title
FVO juniors were instrumental in helping the West area team to secure victory in the Inter Area competition on 29 / 30 October. This is the first time the West has won this since anyone can remember! The dominance of the North has finally been broken – hurrah!!
Jon and Marie Claire Marry
Jon Cross (FVO) and Marie Claire Shankland (SYO) tied the knot in Hathersage on Saturday 15th October. We look forward to welcoming Marie Claire to FVO.
FVO retains CompassSport
For an unprecedented five times in a row, FVO has won the Compass Sport Trophy Club. It is also FVO's seventh win in the last eight years. Scottish clubs put up a great show, with Interlopers coming in second place, and Clyde in fifth place.
Berlin Marathon - Updated Times
Congratulations to Ross, Roger, Jon, Louise and Heike for completing the Berlin marathon. Ross led the FVO field in the excellent time of 2:44:58, with both Roger and Jon coming in under the 3 hours mark (Roger on 2:58:38 and Jon on 2:59:16).
Falkirk Active Sunday
Rona, Jen and Pascal went to the Falkirk Active Sunday event on 4th Sept at Callendar Park, which attracted a crowd of over 3000 people! This was much more than the Falkirk Active Schools team had anticipated, probably helped by the lovely weather. With our stunning banner, tent and big O signs (no
FVO members selected for VHI
FVO has strong representation in the team to represent Scotland in the VHI which this this year will be held in Deeside, Scotland, over the weekend of 8-9th October. The individual race is at Birsemore Hill and the Relays at Coull.
